Solana-based memecoin launchpad Pump.fun has taken a cautious step by resuming its live-streaming feature for 5% of its users. The limited rollout comes after the platform temporarily suspended live streaming four months ago following widespread concerns over abusive content and safety issues.
Live-Streaming Returns to Pump.fun
The platform released a detailed livestream moderation policy to foster a safe and creative environment for its community. It emphasized that its new guidelines are designed to preserve creativity and freedom of expression while preventing illegal, harmful, and negative interactions during livestreams.
It outlines prohibitions against content promoting violence and self-harm, harassment, targeted abuse, and any coordinated campaigns of bullying and other illegal activities. The policy also prohibits explicitly sexual content such as pornography and nudity when presented without context, as well as any material that exploits or sexually abuses individuals.
Moreover, the policy extends to the unauthorized sharing of personal data and prohibits actions such as doxxing or broadcasting private individuals without consent. Pump.fun noted that it might update the policy in response to community feedback and insights from moderators, experts, and other stakeholders.
Additionally, while the guidelines specify what is prohibited, Pump.fun also acknowledged that it may host content generally defined as NSFW (Not Safe For Work). The team asserts that it does not seek to label content as appropriate or inappropriate universally but retains the right to determine the suitability of content on a case-by-case basis and moderate it accordingly.
Violators to be Punished
The Pump.fun team notes that policy violations can result in the termination of livestreams and even the suspension of user accounts or access to the platform entirely. Nonetheless, the moderators will remove any content discovered to breach the guidelines, and repeat offenders may face bans. The platform will report such to law enforcement whenever possible.
It’s noteworthy that Pump.fun’s decision to resume its live-streaming feature could be a catalyst for renewed on-chain activity across the Solana ecosystem. Previously, when the platform disabled it, a notable slump in activities was observed. User engagement plummeted, leaving the platform and the broader Solana network feeling the impact.
Meanwhile, BNB Chain’s Four.Meme has been battling a series of security challenges. Over the past months, it has experienced multiple exploits, undermining its credibility. The platform has been targeted by liquidity manipulation attacks, with one incident resulting in losses of around $183,000 and another attack draining about $130,000 in assets.
