Device manufacturing firm Solana Mobile recently revealed that the Seeker smartphone will begin shipping on August 4, 2025. The firm also introduced SKR as the native token to power its ecosystem. Following the announcements, the project’s community of users and early adopters is excited about the development.
Solana Mobile Introduces SKR Token
Solana Mobile introduced the SKR token to power the ecosystem’s incentives and governance. The team claims the SKR token will align interests among users, developers, and hardware manufacturers for ecosystem participation. Regarding the initiative, Emmett Hollyer, General Manager of Solana Mobile, said:
“Aligning incentives is essential to building a truly decentralized and self-sustaining mobile ecosystem… Instead of being passive consumers in someone else’s walled garden, users, developers, and hardware manufacturers become active stewards of a community-owned digital infrastructure.”
Meanwhile, Solana Mobile introduced TEEPIN (Trusted Execution Environment Platform Infrastructure Network). The decentralized framework comprises three interlocking layers: hardware, platform, and network. The network layer will be the home of SKR, as validators called “guardians” will use it to enforce on-chain policies. Notably, SKR has not been launched.
Commenting on the move, Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder and CEO of Solana Labs, said:
“TEEPIN represents the next evolution in mobile — a framework where trust isn’t granted by a central authority but verified through cryptography.”
Seeker to Ship in August
Along with the SKR token announcement, the team emphasized via X that Seeker presale orders and select retail partners will begin fulfillment on August 4, 2025. According to an official press release, over 150,000 units have already been sold or preordered. Early Adopter pricing is $500 per device, a reduction from the original Saga model’s $700 launch price.
Interestingly, the Seeker device will retain the hardware Seed Vault for private key storage and built‐in Solana Wallet integration introduced on its predecessor, Saga. However, the new model includes optimizations and a reworked Solana dApp Store. The community eagerly awaits shipping, beginning on August 4, 2025.
Users Encounter Hurdles
Solana Mobile further urged Seeker pre-order customers to update their shipping address and tax information. Users flooded Solana Mobile’s shipping page shortly thereafter with some meeting challenges. The “Founder” users who initially paid $450 encountered a bug quoting a subtotal of $500.
Users who mistakenly added the $25 “seeker accessory bundle” were also unable to cancel the added expense. They will either wait for a promised update from the team or finalize the order by making an extra payment. Other users will need to process a refund as their country is not eligible for shipment, or the shipping tax is beyond their expectations and budgets.
