Coinbase has added three new members to its board of directors: a former U.S. president’s aide, a retired Supreme Court attorney, and a seasoned financial leader.

One of the world’s largest crypto exchanges, Coinbase, has taken a significant step to accommodate more experienced financial giants into the company. It has added three Americans with vast political knowledge to its board of directors, all of whom share a strong belief in the future of cryptocurrency.

This vision alignment between the new board members and Coinbase reinforces the company’s position that crypto is an effective tool for updating the American financial system.

Three New Members Join Coinbase

Coinbase announced on Thursday that it has added Chris Lehane, Paul Clement, and Christa Davies to the company’s Board of Directors. Describing the basis for selecting the new board members, Coinbase stated that they have different political philosophies and career paths but share a unanimous belief in the power of crypto as a tool for updating the system.

Lehane served as former President Bill Clinton’s Democrat in 1991. He is a known American political consultant who acquired fame and experience by spearheading the 1992 Clinton-Gore Presidential campaign and was victorious. Before joining the Board of Directors, Lehane was a member of Coinbase’s Global Advisory Council.

As a part of Coinbase’s Board of Directors, Lehane will consider regional crypto adoption laws and provide practical advice to Coinbase’s leadership as the company works to make “on-chain the new online.”

Clement is a renowned lawyer in the United States and Co-founder of Clement & Murphy PLLC. He is one of the most appearing attorneys before the U.S. Supreme Court and the former U.S. Solicitor General during President George Bush’s reign.

Clement will join Coinbase’s Board and work with the Audit & Compliance Committee. He will be instrumental in helping Coinbase oppose the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and “fight for clear rules of the road for digital assets.”

Davies is an accomplished financial executive known for promoting discipline and delivering exceptional results for large organizations globally. She was a member of the board of directors when she worked with Stripe and Workday.

Alongside Clement, Davies will join Coinbase’s Audit & Compliance Committee. Coinbase believes that her presence on the board will boost its “focus on financial and operational excellence on a global scale.”
